Family Medicine

Family Med And Primary Care

Life is a team sport.

You should think of a family medicine provider as the quarterback on your care team, and you’re the head coach. The quarterback calls the plays, coordinates with other key players, and holds most of the responsibility. You get to make the big decision of choosing the quarterback. This isn’t a choice that you should rush. Ensuring that you trust your team and have a similar communication style can help the whole team win.

Your family medicine provider is your go-to resource for all things health. That’s why it’s crucial to have a provider that you can turn to and feel a self of familiarity and comfort when dealing with uncomfortable topics. If you are constantly seeing different providers, you may not have fostered the same type of trusting relationship if you were to see the same person for years. Your family medicine provider can have a deeper understanding of both your and your family’s medical history.

WIAA Sports Physicals

Southwest Health is offering WIAA sports physicals for 2024/2025. If your child participates in school-sponsored sports, the WIAA requires all athletes to get sports physicals. These physicals are a great way to ensure student-athletes are healthy enough to participate in sports. A physical can also help athletes and their parents be aware of any conditions that may impact their health while participating in sports. Southwest Health is hosting WIAA Sport Physical Clinics in the following clinics during June and August:

  • Tuesday, June 9 in Cuba City
  • Wednesday, June 10 in Platteville
  • Thursday, June 11 in Kieler
  • Friday, June 12 in Darlington
  • Tuesday, August 4 in Cuba City
  • Wednesday, August 5 in Platteville
  • Thursday, August 6 in Kieler
  • Friday, August 7 in Darlington

The physicals are $25, which will be donated back to the child’s school. To make an appointment for a WIAA sports physical, contact Southwest Health’s Platteville Clinic at (608) 348-4330.

DOT Physicals

Southwest Health offers DOT physicals at both the Kieler and Platteville Clinic with three different providers ready to help you stay on the road.
