A robust healthcare pipeline starts with students empowered and supported to pursue their goals. Southwest Health works diligently to assist students in achieving their education.
The Southwest Health Foundation awards thousands of dollars in scholarships every year to qualified students pursuing an education in a health-related field. Southwest Health scholarships are funded by generous donations to scholarship funds and endowments.
In 2024, twenty-six students benefited from Southwest Health’s scholarship program. This includes high school graduates entering higher education for the first time, current undergraduate students, and current Southwest Health employees returning to school to earn advanced degrees.
Two of those students are Ben and Jack Stange, brothers who are both pursuing a healthcare degree from the University of Wisconsin.
The brothers are deeply intertwined with Southwest Health, as their mother, Kerri Sue Stange, serves as the Director of Rehab Services. Her unwavering commitment to Southwest Health and the southwest Wisconsin community has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping Ben and Jack’s values of perseverance and excellence. Kerri Sue’s role at Southwest Health and background as a Physical Therapist provides her with unique insights into the organization’s commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of young individuals in the community.
The scholarship from Southwest Health not only alleviates the financial stress associated with higher education but also reflects the organization’s belief in investing in the future of promising young individuals. For Ben and Jack, this scholarship represents more than just financial assistance; it is a recognition of their potential and a vote of confidence in their future in healthcare.
