Expert Women’s Health Care in Platteville, Cuba City, Kieler, & Darlington, WI
If it’s been more than three years since your last Pap smear, this is your friendly reminder to prioritize your health with a simple test that detects cervical cell changes before they become cancerous. A preventative screening is one of the most effective ways to prevent cervical cancer, and it only takes a few minutes.
Age 21-29: Women should have a Pap smear every 3-5 years depending on their care plan, regardless of sexual history.
Age 30-65: Women can choose to have a Pap smear alone every 3 years, or a Pap smear combined with an HPV test every 5 years.
After Age 65: Women who have had regular screenings in the past 10 years with normal results may not need further Pap smears.
High-Risk Factors: Women with a history of cervical cancer or certain risk factors may need more frequent screenings.
Consult Healthcare Provider: Always discuss personal health history and screening options with a healthcare provider for tailored recommendations.
“My provider listened to my needs and addressed them without hesitation. I truly feel listened to and cared for. She continued to educate me and never dismissed my feelings or requests for my life.”
