Garding Against Cancer, a statewide initiative founded by University of Wisconsin Men’s Basketball Coach Greg Gard and his wife, Michelle, will host a fundraising event in Platteville on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 5:30–8:30 p.m. at Williams Fieldhouse, Bo Ryan Court on the University of Wisconsin–Platteville campus.
All proceeds from the event will remain in the region, benefiting local cancer support organizations including Southwest Health, Grant County Cancer Coalition, Iowa County Cancer Coalition, and the Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP).
“Every dollar raised at this event stays local,” said Coach Greg Gard. “We’re proud to partner with these incredible organizations that directly impact the lives of cancer patients and their families right here in our community.”
Since its launch in December 2016, Garding Against Cancer has raised more than $9 million for cancer research and patient care across Wisconsin. The Platteville event marks the final stop in a statewide tour visiting all eight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) universities.
The fundraising evening precedes the October 29 exhibition game between the UW–Madison Badgers and UW–Platteville Pioneers at the Kohl Center, the third all-time meeting between the two programs.
