Attention, Attention, New Medicare Cards Arriving Soon!
In the technology driven age of the 21st century, one popular concern is identity theft and fraud. If you are a Medicare beneficiary, you will soon be one step closer to increased protection compliments of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). And it is FREE!
Beginning in April 2018, CMS will start mailing new Medicare health insurance cards to all Medicare beneficiaries. The mailings will occur over several months and those living in Wisconsin are expected to start receiving their new cards in June 2018. A new alpha-numeric identifier will replace the current Social Security Number-based identifier, thus keeping your Social Security number more secure.

At Southwest Health we want you to be aware this is not a scam and you should not ignore the notifications or throw the new identification cards away. CMS will never call or request payment for the mailing of the new cards or verification of your current Medicare number, Social Security number, or other personal identifying details.
Medicare beneficiaries should begin bringing their new card with them to healthcare visits as soon as they receive it. We encourage you to discontinue carrying your old Medicare health insurance card to further protect your Social Security number.
If you would like to receive notifications and check the card mailing status for Wisconsin please visit Medicare’s new card webpage to sign up for email notifications. Additional information may also be found at the CMS website.
