Southwest Health Again Achieves National Distinction

Recognized for Performance Leadership in Quality, Patient Satisfaction, and Financial Strength

Southwest Health achieved national recognition last week from the National Organization of State Office of Rural Health (NOSORH) and iVantage Health Analytics, a leading business analytic and advisory services company. Southwest Health achieved top quartile performance among all acute care hospitals in the nation for overall excellence of healthcare quality, patient satisfaction, and financial strength.

This national ranking is determined by the Hospital Strength Index, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of hospital performance. In partnership with NOSORH, iVantage Health Analytics identifies hospital excellence using a broad spectrum of indicators related to performance and patient care. This strength index measures and evaluates the performance of all rural and critical access hospitals across the U.S., combining data from 66 different metrics to derive a single overall performance rating or each facility.

“Our health care team takes great pride in achieving this top performance because it demonstrates both our commitment to the people we care for and the resulting success in providing high quality patient care,” says Southwest Health’s Chief Clinical Officer Robert Pastor, RN, FACHE. “It’s especially meaningful that the recognition came on National Rural Health Day. It is our privilege to serve this area’s communities, and such a timely achievement allows us a chance to celebrate the tremendous dedication and commitment to great care that our staff demonstrates day in and day out.”

NOSORH assists state offices of rural health across the country in their efforts to improve access to and the quality of health care for America’s 61 million rural citizens. iVantage offers technology solutions and expert advisory services that help hospitals across the country keep pace with a continually changing healthcare environment.

This most recent recognition comes in a year of quality milestone achievements for Southwest Health. In April the organization and their 550 plus employees attained a ranking in the top two percent of all hospitals in the nation for patient satisfaction. In August, they were awarded their second consecutive Laureate Award for Workplace Excellence for their work in creating an exceptional work climate. Overall, Southwest Health has grown by more than 75 percent in recent years and, in turn, has invested in new construction, in new technology, in new services, and in people. The number of Southwest Health employed medical practitioners has grown from just two to 37, and its Epione Pavilion facility in Cuba City regularly achieves awards and recognitions, such as its five star skilled nursing facility recognition by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
