Health Provider Couple Returns Home to Serve
[Platteville, WI] —- Southwest Health announces the addition of two physician assistant practitioners, Phil Burr, PA-C and Christina Burr, PA-C. Mr. Burr specializes in general orthopedics and sports medicine and will see patients in the Orthopedic Institute at Southwest Health. Mrs. Burr specializes in dermatology and will see patients in the new Specialist Clinic at Southwest Health.

The Burrs are a truly outstanding addition to our team.”
Originally from Platteville, Mrs. Burr is experienced in a wide range of outpatient dermatological care, from general dermatology for all ages to performing minor office procedures and surgical first assistant duties to cosmetics and personal skin care. She attended both UW LaCrosse and Indiana State University where she received her undergraduate degree, and she earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at DeSales University of Center Valley, Pennsylvania. In addition to dermatology, her career as a physician assistant has included experience in women’s health, rheumatology and orthopedics. For the past five years she has practiced in a private dermatology clinic in Athens, Georgia where she discovered her true patient care niche to be dermatology.
“Getting to know my patients helps me better understand how to provide the best possible care,” says Mrs. Burr. “Dermatology provides the chance to know my patients well and to help them address a wide variety of skin conditions. I also enjoy patient education and love being able offer many in office dermatological procedures.”
Mr. Burr is a Lancaster native who earned an undergraduate degree from UW LaCrosse as well as a Masters Degree in Athletic Training from Indiana State University and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies also from DeSales University. Mr. Burr has worked as an athletic trainer at the collegiate level for both Indiana State University and Leheigh University. Since 2005 he has worked in orthopedics as a P.A., gaining experience in the office and hospital settings including a wide variety of orthopedic care for patients of all ages.
The Burrs met one another in high school as members of the swim teams of Platteville and Lancaster High Schools. Together for 18 years and married 14 years, the couple is eager to give back by contributing to the health of the communities they grew up in.
“What drives us both is being able to make a difference in people’s lives,” says Mrs. Burr. Adds Mr. Burr, “It’s an honor for us to return to southwest Wisconsin to practice medicine.”
The Burrs are an active couple who participates in outdoor activities, from camping to skiing to horseback riding and fishing. They also have a 16 month old son (Caden) and enjoy spending time with family.
