Southwest Health Breaking New Ground in Healthcare
[Platteville, WI] –Southwest Health (SH) will officially break ground on a new 20,000 square foot, $7 million addition at a ceremony to be held Friday, October 18th from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. The event includes a half hour informative program to begin at 10 am and will take place on SH’s hospital campus at 1400 East Side Road in Platteville. The public is invited.
Attendees will be able to view SH’s plans and learn more about the three floors of new space and services scheduled to open in August 2014.
The expansion will be home to new physicians, staff and expanded services, including two major new initiatives—a new women’s health center and a new orthopedic and sports medicine program. Obstetrician and gynecologist Kim Christopher Mackey, MD, OB/GYN, and orthopedic surgeon Joshua Lindsey, MD, respectively, will lead the two new programs.
In addition, the new construction will provide modern new space for a growing specialty physicians’ clinic, including SH’s two general surgeons, Jason Klovning, MD, and James Yurcek, MD. The addition will also house a growing Rehabilitation Services Department, including physical, occupational and speech therapies as well as cardiac rehabilitation. And, the new sports medicine facilities will feature a new sports performance gym, designed to help local student and adult athletes realize their performance potentials.
Southwest Health Center is a growing not-for-profit community health care provider offering patient-centered personal care to residents of southwest Wisconsin and beyond. From its three facilities in Platteville and Cuba City, SH provides a wide range of acute care hospital services, skilled nursing care, memory care, behavioral and mental health services, and physician clinics.
