Scholarships

The Southwest Health Center Foundation awards thousands in scholarships each year to qualified students pursuing education in a health-related field. Our scholarships are funded by generous donations to scholarship funds and endowments.

Thelma Longhorn Scholarship ($500).  Awarded to Karri McCarthy, Darlington, WI. A Certified Nursing Assistant at SHC and an EMT for 13 years, Kari is a CPR/First Aid Instructor and is pursuing a degree in Nursing from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College.

Lyle and Lenice Curtis Scholarships Awards (amounts vary):  

    Alicia Lolwing ($1500). Originally from Platteville, Alicia will be a third-year medical student at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee during the 2011-2012 academic year.

    Kayla McGowan ($1500).  Belmont High School Graduate currently attending the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Pharmacy.

    Sarah Bernhardt ($1000).  Accepted Carroll University, Waukesha, WI, pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.

    Cameron Carey ($1000). Belmont High School. Accepted University of Wisconsin-La Crosse College of Science and Health and planing to major in Exercise and Sports Science with the goal of earning his doctorate in Physical Therapy.

    Shawna Donar ($1000). SHC employee accepted at Southwest Technical College. Shawna’s goal is to become credentialed in Medical Coding.

    Paige Heim ($1000). Shullsburg High School. Accepted at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse College of Science and Health with goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.

    Michaela Marshall ($1000). Iowa-Grant High School. Accepted Winona State University. She is planning to pursue a degree in Exercise and Rehabilitative Sciences.

    Marlaina Morrissey ($1000). A 2010 graduate of Shullsburg High School attending the University of Wisconsin--Madison College of Nursing. 

    Abby Mowry ($1000). Benton High School. SHC employee in Cuba City. Accepted at Clarke University. Goal is to become an RN.

    Hailey J. Richardson--$1000. Cuba City High School. SHC employee in Cuba City. Accepted at Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI. Hailey plans to pursue a BSN degree.

    Cara Jean Wienkes ($1000). Iowa-Grant High School. Accepted Marquette University, interested in a career in Physical Therapy.
