Board Member Profiles

Dr. Kevin CarrDr. Kevin Carr is a physician member of the Foundation Board. Dr. Carr has been a Doctors Park physician since 1989. He serves on Southwest Health Center's active medical staff and has been Southwest Health Center's Nursing Home Medical Director since 1991. Dr. Carr has also served as Chief of Staff and Chair for both the Emergency Room and the Obstetrics Department. A 1982 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Dr. Carr earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1986 and completed his training and residency at the University of Wisconsin/St. Mary's Family Practice in 1989. Dr. Carr and his wife, Joy, have two children - Melissa and Brett. They enjoy following their children's sporting events and are also actively involved in high school rodeo. Dr. Carr is the team physician for Platteville High School Sports. In his spare time, Dr. Carr likes to go boating and golfing. He has the distinction of being a member of the foursome that took 1st place in the Foundation's First & Second Annual Golf Jamborees.

Donna HoppenjanDonna Hoppenjan joined the Southwest Health Center Foundation Board in 2006. Donna and her husband, Rick, have two grown children – Chad & Sara – and one grandchild. Donna is the Senior Vice President of Retail Services at Mound City Bank. She is also the Cashier & Secretary to the Board of Directors and serves as the Secretary for Mound City Financial Services, Inc. Donna is a Certified Bank Auditor and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998. Donna has been with Mound City Bank since 1977. Donna likes a good brisk walk and especially enjoys spending time with family and friends at the family's cabin in Bagley, WI. Donna serves on the board for the local United Way and is the President of the Community Leadership Alliance Alumni Association. She is also actively involved in her church, the Cuba City United Methodist Church, where she serves as the Finance Chair.

In Donna's Words: "Southwest Health Center's premier facility is essential in attracting & retaining quality doctors, nurses & staff while continuing to offer personalized & individualized patient care from familiar faces in the community. The new location allows for easier access. I am honored to serve on Southwest Health Center's Foundation board."

Dolores J. Hutcheson has served on Southwest Health Center's Foundation Board for a number of years. Retired since 1994, Dolores was a Professor of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for 33 years. She also served as the Director of Teacher Placement at the University and supervised student teachers. She earned her B.S. degree from UW-P and her M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She loves to work with people and volunteers her time at both the hospital's gift shop and greeter desk. A natural-born teacher, Dolores continues to teach Bible class, volunteers at the local Thrift Shop and is actively involved in many of her church's programs. Dolores also helps to care for two elderly people in addition to a disabled couple. Dolores also enjoys reading in her spare time!

In Dolores's Words: "We have an outstanding facility in Platteville – the new hospital, the staff, nurses and doctors are excellent. Platteville is very proud of Southwest Health Center."

David JonesDavid Jones has served on Southwest Health Center's Foundation Board since 2001. He is the Co-Chair of the Foundation Board and also served as Co-Chair for the 2004/2005 Capital Campaign. Dave served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Mound City Bank. Dave retired in 2004 following a 40-year career with the bank. Dave and his wife, Mary Lou, have two grown children and one grandson. Dave is passionate about fastpitch softball and shared his love of the game with area youth for 21 years as the head softball coach for Platteville High School. Inducted into two different Halls of Fame, Dave was also President of the Wisconsin Softball Coaches from 1993-2003.

In Dave's Words: "The Capital Campaign gave the Foundation tremendous visibility across southwest Wisconsin. With the new hospital as tangible proof of something good and very necessary for the community, I hope this new awareness encourages people to continue supporting our efforts to make sure Southwest Health Center stays strong and viable."

Dr. Richard Schumacher has served on Southwest Health Center's Foundation board since 2005. He was a Team Leader for the 2004/2005 Capital Campaign. Dr. Schumacher is a retired Dean and Professor from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He has a B.A. and M.S. from Northern State University, Aberdeen, South Dakota and a Doctorate from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. Richard & his wife, Jean, are the parents of two grown children, Gregory & Kori, and have three grandchildren. Richard's other passions include photography, woodworking and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.

In Dr. Schumacher's Words: "No matter where you venture, no matter what the goal, keep your eye on the donut and not upon the hole!"

Craig TrongaardCraig Trongaard served as the Chairperson for Southwest Health Center's Capital Campaign in 2004-2005. Craig and his wife, Mary, have two grown children – Kristine & Brian – and two grandchildren. Recently retired from Woodward Communications, Inc., Craig served as the communication company's President and Chief Operating Officer. He joined the company in 1976 and held a number of management positions during his 28-year WCI career. Prior to being named President/COO, he was the General Manager of the Shopping News, Vice President of the Shopping News Division and WCI Senior Vice President. Now that he's retired, Craig has more time to dedicate to his hobbies which include golf and woodworking. Craig is also a collector of casino memorabilia.

In Craig's Words: "The new hospital is a wonderful facility and is now poised for the expansion that Platteville will see in the next several years. I'm pleased to have played a small role in that progress."
